Copper Beech Hedges an alternative to Green Beech with a copper (purple) coloured leaf. It is a deciduous hedge plant, the leaves turn brown in autumn, but are retained for winter months. This enhances its winter appearance and makes copper beech hedge suitable as a year-round hedge screen.

Planting Copper Beech Hedging
Copper Beech hedges should be planted 3 to the yard for a single row and 4 to the yard for a double row. The hedge can be planted in most soil types as it is very hardy. This hedge is most suitable for normal, clay and chalk soils and can be planted in full sun or semi-shaded locations that are situated inland or in costal areas.

How tall & fast will Copper Beech Hedging grow?
Copper Beech hedging grows relatively fast 9-12 inches per year. As the hedge grows the shade of purple will vary from hedge to hedge. Due to the fast growing nature of this hedge and the heights it can grow to Copper Beech hedges provide amazing shelter and privacy to gardens and other private property.

Maintenance of Copper Beech Hedging?
Copper Beech Hedge plants can form dense hedges. they are easily maintained and only need pruning once annually. It is recommended that pruning takes place in early February. There is also no need to worry about hard pruning due to the fast growth rate of the 12 inches a year.
