Beech hedges are deciduous hedges plant that provides all year screening and colour. Beech hedge plants can form dense hedges that are easily maintained and only need pruning once annually.
Beech leaves turn brown in autumn but are retained for winter months. This enhances its winter appearance and makes beech hedging suitable as a year-round hedge screen.
Planting Beech Hedges
This hedging can be planted in most soil types, needs to be planted 3 hedges to the yard for a single row and 4 hedges to the yard for a double row.
How tall & fast will a Beech Hedge grow?
A beech hedge will typically grow from 1 foot to 18 inches in a year. This hedge can grow up to an incredible height 10m in height. This fast growth rate and height makes this hedge amazing at creating a shelter and privacy for your garden, home or other properties.
Maintenance of a Beech Hedge
A beech hedge will thrive well and will help keep its leaves over the winter if pruned twice a year, once in early June and once in early August. One of the amazing features about Beech Hedging is it’s ability to change with the seasons. With Beech hedging you can see all four seasons come and go as each season is reflected in the colours of this hedges leaves. In Spring the new shoots glow in the sun while in Summer the leaves take on a lovely green lime colour. Come Autumn the leaves fade into into a bright red up until Winter, when they turn brown.
