Willow Tree

Willow (Salix)

Willow tree makes excellent shelter belts. Early catkins, attractive leaves and colouful winter stems ensure a varied and attractive appearance throughout the seasons. They will respond well to trimming and can be kept to a required height and thickness. A willow hedge is also an excellent addition to a wildlife garden providing valuable habitat for beneficial insects and birds and a wildlife corridor for small mammals. Invasive roots so beware planting in proximity to pipework, walls or buildings.
